New Publication from NOPP-Funded Project
The NOPP Office would like to congratulate Kenneth Foote from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and his colleagues, Mardi Hastings, Darlene Ketten, Ying-Tsong Lin, Joy Reidenberg, and Kent Rye, on their recent publication in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, titled “Sonar-induced pressure fields on a post-mortem common dolphin.” The researchers investigated the effects of sonar transmission on a young common dolphin cadaver as a proxy to obtaining direct measurements from a beaked whale. This publication was the result of a three year NOPP-funded project focused on mid-frequency sonar interactions with beaked whales.
