Marine and Hydrokinetic (MHK) Effects Assessment and Monitoring


NOPP is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Wind and Water Power Technologies Office (WWPTO), and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), titled “Marine and Hydrokinetic (MHK) Effects Assessment and Monitoring”!

Letters of Intent (LOIs) for this solicitation are requested, but not required, and are due by 11:59 PM EST on 18 April 2013.

Full proposals are due by 5:00 PM EST on 16 May 2013. Proposers must be registered for the EERE Exchange in order to submit a proposal.  Questions related to the registration process and use of the EERE Exchange website should be submitted to: [email protected].

Approximately $1.9M in funding is anticipated under this announcement. Projects are anticipated to be funded in one of three main topic areas:

  • Fish Behavior and Mortality Around Hydrokinetic Turbines (1 project expected to be funded).
  • Environmental Monitoring of MHK Projects (Approximately 4 projects expected to be funded).
  • Analysis of Environmental Effects of MHK Surrogate Technologies (2-6 Projects expected to be funded).
