During the months of January and February, the NOPP Office provided support to the Interagency Working Group on Facilities and Infrastructure (IWG-FI) as they continued to focus on fleet status and modernization. At the end of the calendar year, the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Partnerships (IWG-OP) transitioned into a committee focused on NOPP projects. The NOPP Office provided support to the NOPP committee on their work developing partnership opportunities and assisting fledgling NOPP projects with organization and outreach.
The NOPP Office facilitated a meeting for the Biodiversity Ad Hoc Group, a sub-group of the NOPP (previously the IWG-OP). The Biodiversity Ad Hoc Group’s current topics of interest include Marine BON, deep-sea corals, and OBIS-ENV-DATA.
A Broad Agency Announcement for the Atlantic Deepwater Ecosystem Observatory Network (ADEON) project was released on behalf of the NOPP. White Papers are due no later than 2:00 PM ET on March 29, 2016 to Lisa A. Algarin. A PDF of the announcement can be downloaded here.

The NOPP Office engaged with academic, non-profit, and industry members of the ocean science community about its activities at the 2016 Ocean Sciences Meeting, hosted by the American Geophysical Union, Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography, and The Oceanography Society from February 21st through February 26th in New Orleans, LA.
At the Ocean Sciences Meeting, the NOPP presented the 2015 Excellence in Partnering Award to “Atlantic Canyons: Pathways to the Abyss”, a collaborative research effort between private industry, government agencies, and academic institutions to explore and document the deep-water and benthic marine habitats of two mid-Atlantic Canyons located offshore of Virginia and Maryland. The award is given annually to a NOPP project that best exemplifies the partnership objectives of the NOPP.
