The National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP) is pleased to announce a breakout session on Attaining an Operational Marine Biodiversity Observing Network: Transforming Recommendations to Action, to be held at the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) conference in Washington, DC on 20 January 2011. The recommendations from the Attaining Operational Marine Biodiversity Observations workshop report will be reviewed and strategies to implement a national biodiversity observing network will be discussed. The NOPP Office is currently coordinating scientific review panels for proposals received in response to the FY 2011 funding announcement that closed on 23 November 2010 on Marine Mammal Detection and Monitoring.
The NOPP Office would like to congratulate NOPP researcher Dr. Scott Glenn, of Rutgers University, for receiving the professor of the year award from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The award recognizes professors for their exceptional involvement and impact on undergraduate students and also for their scholarly approach to learning and teaching.
